
I find it funny when people say that Democracy has been a fundamental part of Western Civilisation since it was born in Greece
Funny because Democracy was a short-lived experiment, and Plato and Aristotles criticized it sharply. Eventually Sparta won, and Democracy of Athens collapsed
Democracy is hard to mantain because in the absence of a homogeneous country with shared interests it becomes an ugly demographic war, and then a war of castes
